Additional Notes |
It is strongly recommended you read the Sniping rules before using this weapon. Using a scope on a sniper rifle does not provide the standard -1Df to hit. The accuracy of these weapons are reflected in their ranges. When upgrading damage and penetrating armor, the shooter receives a +1t bonus due to the stopping power of the cartridge. All stabilization tests receive a -1t penalty. |
The Remington 700 bolt-action is one of the most accurate and widely used hunting & sniper rifles in the world today. It is available in a number of different versions, the PSS and VS being just two. The PSS is the police-oriented "tactical" variant, and features a different stock, handgrip, and detachable magazine. These differences are minor, but the price of the PSS is often much higher, especially now that the line has been discontinued. Both of these rifles are extremely well made, and quite capable of shooting 1/2 MOA right out of the box. Despite being popular nationwide for hunting, they have also become the weapon of choice for numerous police sniper units, including FBI snipers. Aegis personnel often employ them due to their accuracy and availability. Both rifles are available in .308 (standard) and .223, with the PSS also produced in .300 Winchester Magnum, a much more powerful cartridge, (50% more recoil, higher energy, shorter barrel life, more expensive) designed for longer ranges. Without a scope, the VS sells at $500, making it a real bargain.
